Art Unlimited 2017 | Nick Cave - Speak Louder

Nick Cave's Speak Louder from 2011 has one strong message behind it: in order to be heard, you have to speak louder. Inspired by the jazz-funeral processions of New Orleans, the seven individuals are connected under one shimmering cloak of pearlescent buttons. They have tuba-shaped heads - which stands for being loud - but at the same time the heads are covered and the mouths sealed, therefore they are silenced.
They march as one, united and strong as a community. For us it also symbolizes the hope for a brighter future, even though you may not be heard at some point, when people stand together for a common goal they are strong and in the end they will be heard.
