Art Unlimited 2015 | Günther Uecker – Sandmühle (Sand mill)

The Sand Mill (conceived in 1969, created in 2014) by Günther Uecker is an installation with 3 tons of white sand with two vertical 60cm long knives that are in constant circular motion.
While moving, the cords that are attached to the knives draw an endless line into the sand, which creates circles in all different sizes.
The whole piece represents change, as the sand is only being moved by the cords, but at the same time it is endless – just as a circle has no clear beginning or ending.
