Lars von Trier - Nymphomaniac

Forget 50 shades of Grey, forget Wetlands.
Lars von Trier's new movie Nymphomaniac will bring more sex to the cinema than there has ever been before, with a top cast!
There are Charlotte Gainsbourg and Willem Dafoe (we know them already for example from Lars von Trier's 'Antichrist'), Shia LaBeouf, Uma Thurman and many more.
Being the typical Lars von Trier, the movie consists of different chapters, in Nymphomaniac there are 8 of them.
The movie tells the story of a self diagnosed nymphomaniac, from birth to the age of 50.
Since the beginning of the year, 5 appetizers and the official trailer have been released, to give a preview on what to expect from Nymphomaniac.
The movie is to be two parts in two seperate films, and of each film there will be a soft and an explicit cut.

Boskke Skyplanter

With the boskke skyplanter you can plant your plants upside down. At first sight it may be irritating, but then it turns out to be a fantastic way to have plants in angles you have never had plants before.
We have been using the skyplanter for a while, and we are very satisfied with it. The watering system works with a little rod, that indicates you when you need to water the plant. A porous ceramic reservoir is connected to the soil, and only releases little amounts of water through diffusion. That way there is no water dropping down. A little net that is fixed on top of the soil, makes sure there is no soil falling down either.
Also it's a good opportunity to have plants when you have pets or children, that makes sure they can not get to your plants.
If you take good care of the plants, they will live as long as plants in regular pots.
Some plants adapt, and will start to grow upwards again, others will keep hanging down. You can find a list of the most suitable plants on the manufacturers website.

Cara Delevingne

Cara Delevingne is a british top model and actress. She was born in 1992 in London and has one sister, Poppy Delevingne, who is also a model.
Carreer wise, she's a real high flyer, and over the past years she has become more and more famous.
She is currently ranked number 5 on models.com's 50 Top models.

Just last week she walked for the second time for Victorias Secret and she is one of the current faces of the burberry beauty campaign.
Along with Saskia de Brauw she is also the face of Chanel's Resort 2013 campaign.
Karl Lagerfeld said in an Interview with the ELLE that "Cara represents the modern it girl", and he is one of the designers who is booking her repeatedly.
She has been on the covers of fashion magazines all over the world, like the VOGUE, INDUDSTRIE, LOVE, NUMÉRO, ELLE and many more.

We are curious to see where she's going from here, as she does not only want to be a model, but also wants to focus more on her career as an actress.

The white Camelia

One of our favourite flowers is the white camelia. It reminds us a bit of a rose, but has a more flat blossom. The camelia itself is from the purest white, and doesn't have an odour.

For us the camelia is also a symbol of peace and friendship.

It originates in eastern Asia, and has become more famous in Europe in the 19th century.
Because of its purity and the fact that it does not have a smell, it was also the favourite flower of Gabrielle Chanel, because when she was wearing one it did not interfere with the perfume she was wearing. You can still find the camelia as the caracteristic symbol of chanel, used in jewelry, bags, clothes etc.

Beautifully scented candles

We use candles every season of the year, to create a special atmosphere, but now with the days getting shorter it gives a nice ambiance to a room if you have simple but elegant candles.

We fell in love with these, not only because they are black and white, but also because of their delicious fragrance.
The white wood series consists mainly of scents of three different woods.

The noir series consists of the three candles 'Jasmin Noir', 'Cassis' and 'Tubereuse'.

The packaging of both sets was designed by Marc Atlan, an Art director for fashion and beauty.

Isabel Marant for H&M

The collection was as beautiful as we expected it to be from what we have seen before. We were able to get our hands on the pieces we wanted and are already wearing them with pride. Her first ever Mens Collection is a huge success in our eyes, as she remained true to her style and was able to make stylish everyday pieces. It is also the first time that a designer collaboration with H&M has a kids-collection.

Streetart in Basel

Marina Abramović Institute Prototype

We have visited the Marina Abramović Institute Prototype, as part of the exhibition METAMATIC reloaded (23. October 2013 - 26. January 2014) at the Tinguely Museum in Basel.

It is a prototype of the planned Marina Abramović Institute in Hudson.
The visit was a 2 hour stay, with only 4 participants, during which we walked through chambers with different experiences. The installation consisted of 7 chambers, from which the very first one was the reception chamber, where every visitor had to leave his personal belongings and had to dress in the lab coat and the special boots for the Abramović Method. Also we had to sign a contract, saying that we will stay for the next two hours and allowing them to film the participants.

The first chamber of the actual experiment was a short video introduction from Marina Abramović followed by different exercises for the body conciousness. After the first chamber, we were handed ipods and from that part we had Marina Abramović's voice guiding us through the installation.

In the second chamber, the drinking chamber, we had four containers with water and in each container there was a different mineral stone.

1: Crystal Quartz: purifying, balancing, activates and modifies the available energies
2: Black Tourmaline: protection against negative energy, spiritual grounding stone, encourages positive attitude, happiness and luck
3: Red Jaspis: reveal guilt, resolve inner conflicts, reduce stress and negative emotions, raise the inner peace and harmony
4: Rose Quartz: the stone of love, pure and unconditional love of every kind, such as family, partner, friend, platonic etc.

Every participant had to choose from one container, and drink his glass as slowly as possible, feeling every step of the drinking process. It was the water drinking exercise, Marina has often described.

Chamber three, the eye-gaze chamber, was based on Marinas performance "the artist is present", it had wooden chairs and mineral stones in the room, and two participants were sitting together, looking at each other.

Chamber four was the electricity chamber, dedicated to Nikola Tesla, where each participant was experiencing electricity, by holding a neon tube, that was illuminated by the electricity coming from a tesla coil in the middle of the room, allowing the participant to become transmitter and conducter of that energy.

In chamber five, the luminosity chamber, every visitor had to lie down on a wooden bed with a blue quartz pillow, it was overall a relaxing exercise.

Before leaving there was the last chamber, the writing chamber, where every participant was instructed to write something about how he expierienced the MAI Prototype. After that we recieved our certificate of completion and were free to leave.

It was a very special and intense experience and allowed us to get a preview from what the participants of the future MAI can expect, even though the two hours were of course too short to really get into the Abramović Method.

We will certainly continue to follow her projects and her work with great interest and admiration.

Roboty Reczne

Roboty Reczne is a polish brand that was founded in 2009 by its designer Marta Iwanina. The Roboty Reczne fashion consists of mainly knitwear, in the form of beautiful accessoires you have never seen before, pullovers, gloves, and even knitted shorts and hotpants. It is certainly worth to check it out, especially now with the cold months coming up.

We loved the Roboty Reczne lookbook, for us it represents fall in its most beautiful way, with the fashionable big hat, the oldschool ray ban glasses and the knitted pieces.
